The brainchild of Mullumbimby local, Judy Chapman, and Byron marketing guru Adrian Nelson, OMByron.com is a trusted guide of where you can find a quality yoga class, infrared sauna, retreat, healthy eats and more. It’s an exploration of Byron Bay’s burgeoning health and wellness culture and community.
Judy is a wellness expert with over two decades of experience in designing spas, wellness spaces, spa treatments and skincare lines for brands around the world. She is the former Editor-in-Chief of Spa Asia magazine and author of 4 books about spas, bathing and wellbeing. She was also the spa columnist for Wellbeing Australia magazine for several years and has published over 100 articles on wellness travel, sustainable travel, retreats and spas in newspapers and magazines around the world.
The concept for OMByron came about after Judy packed up her life in New York and returned to the Byron area – two weeks before the global pandemic hit.
She started looking around the area for alternative work and realised there were so many outstanding wellness brands, businesses and creative start-ups and that everything she had been looking for had been here all along.
Fast forward a few months and Judy connected with Adrian who’s agency [utopiacreative.com] is responsible for many of the area’s successful brand stories – together they designed OMByron, a guide to the world renown wellness culture and community of the Byron shire.
“Growing up in this area in the seventies, I was introduced early on to the benefits of yoga, healthy food, healing and spirituality. Fast track a few decades, my respect for holistic practices has only deepened. I’m a big advocate of ‘prevention is better than cure’ and have learned through personal experience that integrating wellness in your life in whatever way works for you personally will help you grow. Even a one-hour reiki session, massage, or 45-minute infrared sauna can transform how we feel.”
